Divorce can often seem like a rollercoaster when child custody matters
are being handled. When two soon-to-be ex-spouses are trying to handle
child custody issues, many words can be exchanged by both parties. Sometimes these words
can harm one parent's case.
It is important to remember that many times judges that are deciding child
custody cases take into account parents' behavior. Although emotions
might be strong on both sides, it is important to show restraint.
Some way people can help their Poughkeepsie child custody case include:
â¢Â· Make sure the other parent is aware of a
vacation where you take the children out of the area. Always tell them
where you are going and when you will be back.
â¢Â· Don't prevent your child from talking
on the phone with their other parent while they are with you.
â¢Â· Talking badly about your former spouse in
front of anyone is sure to get back to them. Even worse, it could get
back to your children.
â¢Â· If you are dating another person before child
custody issues are handled, don't move in with them. Moving in with
someone before your children have accepted the situation in the family
may make them not want to live with you.
â¢Â· Don't argue with your ex in front of
people, and try to avoid giving them something to bring to court.
These are just a few ways people can try to help their child custody situation.
Each family is different so it might be important to seek the help of
an experienced family law attorney.
